The Playroom

Chelsea had lots of fun at the hospital. Her favourite thing to do is go to the playroom. At the playroom she could go on ride on cars, jump on the trampoline and cook in the playhouse outside.Chelsea liked to play with Captain Starlight and made many other friends during Kalan's stay in hospital. Chelsea really enjoyed doing arts and crafts. She made a dancing person, butterfly and a collage. Chelsea also loved painting and making shapes with the play dough

Kalan's Hospital Retreat!

The second week in hospital was a lot quieter then the first. Mum and Kalan were just waiting on test results so got to leave the hospial for some day leave. On the Friday some X-rays were done of head to make sure everything was normal. Lucky for us it all was!


At the end of the week some results came back. Kalan has some food allergies which are milk, egg and wheat.

Kalan's Getaway!

Kalan has spent most of last month in hospital

It all started when Kalan went for a check up/needles at four months old. He hadn't grown, had bad eczema and kept picking up more bugs then usual.

Our doctor sent us to a Dermatologist his name was Dr Miller.

We went to the dermatologist on Monday and he sent us straight to the hospital.

He wanted to find out what was causing the bad skin and why his immune system wasn't fighting the bugs away.

The first week wasn't much fun and his skin and weight got worse with all the stress and lack of sleep both mum and Kalan were getting. Plus he picked up two new bugs Rota virus and Adenovirus. On Wednesday they poked and prodded him every hour and by the end of the day he was miserable. Had three blood tests, an ultrasound and a skin biopsy.

The nurses with Mums help dressed him like a mummy twice a day. After a bath stuck a bunch of creams on Kalan then wet bandages.

By Sunday Dr Hufton put Mum on a no taste diet! (no eggs, dairy products,wheat, egg and soy.)

He also suggested Mum stay on this until the allergy and skin biopsy come back . This can take up to two weeks.
